Construction continues for improvements to Chandler Heights Road from McQueen Road to Gilbert Road (Project: ST1614.401 CHN0240D T009901C). The City of Chandler has contracted with Granite Construction and Ardurra Group to widen Chandler Heights Road to a minimum of four lanes (two lanes in each direction), from McQueen to Gilbert. Improvements include construction of raised medians, bike lanes, center turn lanes, sidewalks, curb, gutter, street lighting, traffic signals, drainage improvements, landscaping, and utility relocations. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete.
Provided below is information on the upcoming construction schedule, but please remember schedules can be impacted by a variety of factors to include weather, materials scheduling, availability of resources, and coordination with others.
Current Construction Information:
· Crews continue work to remove the existing RWCD ditch and structures and install private irrigation structures on the south side of Chandler Heights between Cooper Road and 124th St.
· Crews also continue work to install a 36” irrigation line from 124th St to Cooper Road and storm drain improvements from Cooper Road to Gilbert Road on both sides of Chandler Heights.
· Scheduled to begin the week of Jan. 23, crews will conduct water and sewer extensions, relocations, and abandonments to accommodate the road improvements.
· Crews are not scheduled to work Monday, January 16, in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday.
· Chandler Heights Road remains open for travel during this work with traffic shifted away from the work activity permitting at least one lane of traffic in each direction.
· Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
